The Honorable Josée Verner, Minister of Intergovernmental Affaires, President of the Queen's Privy Council, Minister for La Francophonie and Minister responsible for the Quebec City Region, will be proud to take part in this grand family event. Please visit the CCTGA’s new website www.canadianchristmastrees.ca The president of the Québec Christmas Tree Growers Association, Mr. Jacques Rousseau, will greatly appreciate greeting you all, cheering for the families of our troops. Myles MacPherson, the president of the CCTGA says: "Canadian Christmas tree growers from across the country appreciate the services and efforts of Canadian troops serving outside of Canada. We can’t send trees to Afghanistan and other places, but we sure can give a natural Christmas tree to their families here at home in Canada. It’s our way of saying thanks and we’re thinking of you." The CCTGA is proud to be committed to its program and continue giving trees to the families of all Canadian troops serving overseas and in Afghanistan. This year is the 500th anniversary of the first documented use of a decorated real tree erected on the public place in Riga, Latvia, for the Christmas festivities. Our growers are proud to be able to continue the tradition of providing real, natural Christmas trees to people all over the world. The CCTGA is proud to offer fresh and fragrant trees and are pleased to be part of the natural celebration of the warmth, hope and peace that Jesus Christ’s birth brings. However you celebrate it, “Remember the reason for this Season!” “On behalf of the Defence family, I thank the Canadian Christmas Tree Growers Association for their continued generosity and support of military families,” said the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence. “The donation of Christmas trees is a heart warming gesture for our military families and reinforces the fact that Canadians and their community stands with them during the holiday season.”
